Autonomous Car Camp

How does Tesla do it? This camp combines, coding, engineering and design while you learn how to make your own autonomous vehicle. Be on the cutting edge of technology and bring your final build home!

Suggested Age: 13-18 years old

Camp Objectives

  • Students will learn how to build and program miniature robotic autonomous cars
  • Students will learn python programming and be exposed to the fundamentals of AI concepts related to the real-world applications of self-driving cars
  • Students will learn modeling and simulation as they complete drills and race exercises utilizing their robotic cars
  • Students will investigate the 5 Big Ideas of AI: perception, representation and reasoning, learning, natural interaction and social impact (https://ai4k12.org/resources/big-ideas-poster/)
  • Students will work in teams on various activities related to the theme of the camp to facilitate teamwork and idea exchange
  • Students will hear from subject matter experts during the “lunch and learn” portion each day that will focus on real-world application of skills learned and how skills can be incorporated into career planning
